Responsible for managing a customer portfolio representing over 70 companies in the cement, steel and wallboard industries in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Responsible for the sales of bulk commodities such as clinker, cement, coal, petcoke, gypsum, bauxite, slag among others for the North American market. Perform accurate risk assessments of products and supply contracts through collaboration with Chartering, Operations, Legal and Finance departments. Oversee the negotiation and preparation of supply contracts. Negotiate short and long-term freight contracts, in coordination with the chartering department. Make analysis of trends and economic conditions in order to forecast anticipated consumer demand within the cement and steel industries. Participate in monthly face to face meetings with customers. Attend industry conferences and seminars to improve customer relations and target new customers to achieve company's revenue goals. Oversee shipment operations (i.e., shipment scheduling, vessel nomination, loading and discharging operations, documentation of shipments, laytime calculations, and collections) to ensure quality control and strategic alignment with company's objectives. Periodically prepare sales reports, budget reports and industry analysis for management. Establish hedging strategies with the Finance department to limit currency exposure for sales purchases in foreign currency. Travel about 2-3 weeks per month to customers throughout North American and the Caribbean from FLL, PBI or MIA.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in international trade or business administration plus three years of experience in the job offered or as a commodities trader. Must have at least three years of on the job experience in sales of cement as a commodity, raw materials for the cement, steel, wallboard and power generation industries, chartering and shipping of dry bulk commodities, logistics management for dry bulk product transported by vessel, barge, rail or truck, financial analysis and MS Office.
